What I do when I feel fear

What I do when I feel fear...

I personify it as a scared little child inside.
I don't let it run the show, it doesn't have the capacity (or the need).

I connect in with my power, my vastness, my soul, MY BREATH...
then I turn toward it, bringing it into a big hug.

No harm can come from me allowing it to be heard and held... plus, it is valid.

I empathise with it (makes a lot of sense why its here and bringing the stories it does).

I let it know I won't abandon it, and when I feel that sink in, I engage with it. I dance with it into a place of new possibilities.

I'll let you in on a conversation I had with fear of responsibility this morning-

Hi little one, I hear you, I love you, I am here for you, I care for you.
I acknowledge being the the oldest of 4 sisters, responsibilities did sometimes suck. I didn't deal with them well all the time, others didn't want me to have them sometimes.

Responsibility can be lonely and scary, like 'who's got me?'. The...

I've spent way too much of my life discounting my power

Uncategorized Mar 12, 2021
I've spent way too much of my life discounting my power, doubting my wisdom, downplaying my expertise and distracting myself from what wants to come through me.

And its agonising, knowing I'm not showing up for myself and honouring the work that wants to be. It's deadening to allow doubt and confusion more space than uncensored expression.

It's also disheartening, wanting to really contribute, to help make the world a better place (for want of a way to say that, that doesn't sound cliché)- and not really feeling like my contributions have the substance, effectiveness... or soul that I know they can.

And the decision to shift that wasn't a big moment of fireworks and 'nothing's ever the same from now on'.

But it was a decision with a lot of sacred, 'this is real shit' power behind it. A decision I've continued to remind myself of, continued to remake, and will continue to remake again and again.

I decided that this human I am, in this body, with my experiences and...

More Than Enough

You are more than enough as you are.

You don't need more experience, more confidence, more readiness, more training, more certifications, more intelligence, more articulation, more attraction, more profundity, more content, more focus or more drive to share your work with the world.

Claiming, owning and being IN who you are, where you are NOW is the leadership you're meant for and the leadership others want and need from you.

And it is the only powerful place of leadership you can ever come from.

If you're always trying to be outside of yourself, trying to be more, 'better', different, you won't feel the power of YOU, your leadership and your contributions and neither will others.

You can continue to deepen, refine and expand your unique flavour of leadership. Growth is always an option, but don't make that mean you aren't yet enough, right now, right here, with all you've got inside you.

Don't let that keep you outside of yourself, your power, your responsibility and your choice.

The world you know in your heart is possible

A persistent message that gets whispered to me from whatever realms such messages come is how very possible it is for us to move towards a more thriving planet while living healthily, abundantly and peacefully.

By thriving planet, I mean things like healthy climate and ecosystems and just, equitable social systems.

By living healthily, abundantly and peacefully, I mean that it's possible for our species, as populated and complicated as we are, to create that thriving planet in ways that aren't dystopic.

When I say possible, I don't mean easy, I don't mean without significant changes, and I certainly don't have a grand plan for how that can be done- I don't think any of us do.

I say possible because as a species we are pretty amazing at creating things that seem impossible.

The vision of a thriving planet is on a global scale, it has to be.
Yet seeing as I'm one person, and I have expertise in working deeply with people one to one and in small, intimate groups, my...

You are more powerful than you think

You are more powerful than you think.

Not because you're more special than anyone else... because you are alive... and alive humans tend to think a lot and that thinking can get in the way of knowing our power.

You can also be a freaking significant player in creating the world you long for. You have it in you.

And you don't have to sacrifice yourself or your dreams to do so. You don't have to do the thing you think you should do to create change, the thing you feel obligated to do.

The key to your most powerful role in creating that world you long for, is in the secret visions you see yourself in, the contributions you long to make-

"if only I were more courageous, connected, capable, creative".

The key is in the fire you feel inside you.

The fire that says-
'let me out, I'm here to be expressed'
'I'm here to mingle and grow with others'
'I'm here to burn in the world, not smoulder inside'
'I'm here to create, restructure and destroy'

That fire within you isn't...

The life changing power of an invisible tool

I was invited to join an online 'toastmasters' for coaches and said yes because I can get so nervous in speeches and want to become more comfortable doing them.

I said yes, but really didn't feel up for it. I had been feeling slumpy, uninspired and mildly depressed for a couple of weeks.

I didn't really feel up for it but the great thing about committing to someone else is that I just have to get over myself and show up.

As I sat with what I wanted to talk about it felt too hard to even think of what that would be given how bleaurgh I was feeling.

So I didn't try. I stopped all attempts at pushing and hustling, gave myself permission to feel as I was feeling and tuned into what I needed.

That's when I remembered a tool that's helped me so profoundly in the past. A tool that I'd temporarily forgotten about (right at the time I most needed it).

This tool is key to helping me through cycles of burnout and depression and it helped me through this one so...

Can you be a leader without being an a#%@ hole?

contribution leadership Nov 08, 2020

As an empathic human, dedicated to shared power, justice, freedom and an honouring of all life, it can feel really uncomfortable to call yourself a leader.

It can feel really uncomfortable even if a part of you secretly wishes you didn't have an issue with it and could really shine in your influence, creativity, possibility and power (because that's what the spark inside wants for you).

The discomfort does make sense. Its valid and shows you how much you want to create real change and not contribute to repeating the same old dysfunctional systems and patterns.

It's valid... AND... it's an invitation to rewrite your definitions of leadership.

So I ask you now-

What is your definition of a leader?

Journal on it.

Now look over your definition and pull out the parts that you never want to be like.

'Leaders can be ...

arrogant, with delusions of grandeur, with a superiority complex, control freaks, egotistical, dishonest, corrupted by power, fake,...
